Charleston, SC — September 28, 2026 — Timmons Group is pleased to welcome Brad Smith, PE, PMP, back to the firm as a Senior Project Manager in its Charleston office. Smith returned on June 1, 2026, bringing more than 30 years of civil engineering, land development, and construction management experience to the firm’s growing presence in South Carolina.
Smith joins a multidisciplinary team that has completed nearly 200 projects in the region. With a strong background working in the local market, his return strengthens the firm’s ability to support public- and private-sector clients across the Charleston region as communities continue balancing growth, infrastructure needs, and the region’s historic coastal character.
Before returning to South Carolina, Smith previously worked for Timmons Group in Charlotte, North Carolina. His broader career includes extensive private land development experience in the Charleston market supporting industrial, commercial, residential, affordable housing, high-density, and mixed-use developments. He also managed the Magnolia Superfund site for four years, coordinating with the owner, design groups, and environmental counsel, and designed the infrastructure for the first phase of development.
Additionally, Smith worked in the public sector for The City of North Charleston’s Public Works Engineering Department, managing capital improvement projects including community centers, fire stations, stormwater projects, and parks department projects. His work included managing the City’s new $38M, 52-acre Public Works Campus, a brownfield site that required coordination with federal and state agencies to address contaminated soil and groundwater.

As a licensed Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional, Smith’s expertise includes planning, civil design, permitting, stakeholder coordination, site development, water and wastewater infrastructure, stormwater management, erosion control, construction administration, and construction documentation.
