Cliff Lawson Named to Leadership Columbia Class of 2027

Timmons Group, an award-winning engineering, design, and technology firm, announced today that Cliff Lawson, PE, PTOE, IMSA Level II, has been named to the Columbia Chamber’s Leadership Columbia Class of 2027. Lawson serves as Lead Traffic Engineer for Timmons Group’s South Carolina Traffic Analysis & Transportation Design Practice, where he manages both public and private projects, handling everything from traffic studies to large-scale roadway and signal designs. He also serves on the Institute of Transportation Engineers South Carolina Section (SCSITE), a community of transportation professionals dedicated to improving mobility and safety for all transportation system users while helping build smart, livable communities.

“It’s an honor to be included in the Leadership Columbia Class of 2027 alongside this talented group of local professionals,” said Lawson. “I look forward to growing as a leader and deepening my knowledge of the region so I can better serve the community where I live and work.”

Provided through the Columbia Chamber, Leadership Columbia is the region’s signature leadership program, offering skill-building that develops emerging community leaders, alongside an educational experience with a strong emphasis on social and community awareness. Over 10 months, participants explore critical issues facing the community while gaining diverse opportunities for professional development, community involvement, and networking throughout the greater Columbia region.

“Cliff brings strong leadership and a genuine commitment to improving the local community,” said Paul Trapp, Executive Vice President of Timmons Group’s Infrastructure Practice. “Leadership Columbia will only sharpen those strengths, and that growth will show up in the solutions we deliver to all of our clients.”

As a Professional Engineer, Professional Traffic Operations Manager, and IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II, Lawson brings over a decade of experience in multiple areas of traffic engineering, transportation planning, and transportation design, including capacity analysis, traffic impact analyses (TIAs), traffic signal and electrical wiring design, optimization and coordination of traffic signal timing, pavement marking design, traffic management design, and innovative intersection design. His work spans DOTs and localities across the Carolinas, where he has led traffic studies and signal design projects that continue to shape safer, more efficient roadway networks throughout the region.
