Timmons Group firmly believes that, at its core, civil engineering is about bettering our communities through improvements to the built and natural environments that surround us. Through thoughtfully designed spaces, carefully implemented systems, and reliably built infrastructure, we aim to help the world around us function and flourish.
Since our founding in 1953, that purpose has guided our firm as we continue to shape how we work across the country, with our annual “Top Firm” awards marking the cadence of this progress.
Key this year is our appearance on the North Texas list, a first for our firm, as our team members in Dallas continue to grow a strong civil, survey, and renewables practice in the region.
We are also honored to be recognized by the Triangle, Triad, Charlotte, Washington, and Baltimore Business Journals as a top engineering firm in the markets we serve. These acknowledgments are a meaningful reflection of the relationships we’ve built, the trust our clients place in us, and the work our teams do each day to support growing and evolving communities.

With a history spanning more than 70 years, Timmons Group has grown with the communities we serve across the Mid-Atlantic, South, and Southeast—most recently expanding our operations in Southwest Virginia and South Carolina.
From designing some of Richmond’s early highway infrastructure to supporting the development of technology corridors, parks and recreation areas, urban communities, and industrial campus systems across multiple states, our legacy is one of thoughtful, hands-on involvement.
This history has taught us the value of long-term thinking. It has shown us that success isn’t measured only by the scale of a project, but by how well it serves the people who depend on it. Our teams live and work in the same communities as our clients. That regional knowledge informs every project, whether we’re improving road safety, planning for sustainable growth, or delivering data-driven solutions with geospatial technology.
While we’re proud of this recognition, we see it as a shared achievement. It belongs to our clients, our partners, and our employees—past and present—whose commitment and collaboration make our work possible. It’s also a reminder that our story is still unfolding, shaped every day by new challenges, new ideas, and new opportunities, upheld by a shared vision that meets our legacy.
