Overview

The Tactical Support Equipment Department (TSED) project in Fort Lee, Virginia provides facilities for the purpose of Equipment Maintenance Training in a consolidated building that consists of general instruction classrooms, general purpose administration and operations, laboratories, mid-bay area for equipment maintenance training, exterior covered storage, division-level tool storage, division-level instructor preparation rooms and related items. The TSED functions similar to that of a vocational education/technical training facility in the private sector. The facility accommodates 750 students, 115 staff and is comprised of approximately 272,000 square feet.

TSED is a high performance facility and is certified with the US Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) silver building. The Architect on this project was AECOM and the Design-Build Contractor was Hensel Phelps Construction Company. Timmons Group provided surveying, civil design, permitting, landscape architecture and construction administration services for this design-build project.
