Overview
As part of Timmons Group’s on-call contract with the City, DPW officials reached out to Timmons Group in an emergency situation with a potentially unsafe condition on a City street. Our engineers were on-site within one hour and assessed the situation. A structural slab, serving as a sidewalk, had failed. The resulting danger was a 15 foot fall for pedestrians. Our engineers cordoned off the area and then immediately conducted an evaluation of the situation. Armed with this information, our structural engineers designed the replacement structure and delivered that design in less than one week. The following week, Timmons Group met with contractors on-site to review the structure replacement plans and get construction underway.
Throughout the duration of construction, Timmons Group was on-site to provide construction inspection and engineering services, during both demolition of the existing structure and construction of the replacement slab. During the course of construction, our structural engineers also developed a plan revision to accommodate the contractor’s formwork arrangement and keep construction moving forward. The replacement slab is now complete, and a safe and secure sidewalk is now open for the citizens of Petersburg.
