Overview
Located in Richmond’s Southside, the T.B. Smith Community Center was envisioned to be a community hub that brings people together, promotes healthy lifestyles, and expands access to essential services and programs. Timmons Group partnered with Baskervill and the City of Richmond to lead and transform community input into a vibrant, welcoming destination shaped by the needs and aspirations of local residents.
The resulting 30,000-square-foot facility combines indoor and outdoor amenities designed to serve residents of all ages. Features include a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a community kitchen, multipurpose field, playgrounds, splash pad, and welcoming open spaces that encourage recreation, connection, and community pride. Native meadow plantings, extensive tree canopy, and thoughtfully designed site amenities create an inviting environment that supports both people and the natural landscape.
More than a community center, T.B. Smith serves as a catalyst for engagement, wellness, and opportunity. By transforming community input into a vibrant public destination, the project strengthens neighborhood connections and provides a place where Richmond residents can gather, learn, play, and thrive for generations to come.
