Overview
The Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) has engaged Timmons Group for the Middle Mile Fiber Make-Ready Engineering project. This Joint Use project aims to install an internal fiber optic network that will connect SVEC’s electric infrastructure and offices, providing improved communication system-wide, greater operational reliability, and enhanced cybersecurity.
Timmons Group will provide a range of engineering services to support SVEC’s fiber optic network installation, including:
- Field Data Collection and Measurement — Gathering accurate data from the field to support the design and implementation of the fiber network
- Completion of Staking Package — Utilizing current staking software (currently Partner) to complete staking packages necessary for the project
- Software Updates — Updating necessary software, including but not limited to Daffron, NJUNS, and Smartsheet, to ensure seamless project execution
- Field Inspection — Conducting field inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards
The fiber network will enhance the functionality and reliability of SVEC’s system by improving communication among distribution assets, including substations, safety devices, communication towers, and information exchange between district offices.
