Overview

The economic development team of Timmons Group, Baskervill and Tradewinds Network Services is proud to have worked together with the Halifax County Industrial Development Authority to bring the vision for Riverstone to this southside Virginia community. The first phase of Riverstone created over 165 acres of premier industrial property along Route 58/360 immediately adjacent to the current Industrial Park. The master plan focused on a mixed-use, technology oriented, business park that will complement the two existing buildings in the park.

The funding for this project is provided through a number of sources. Timmons Group was required to work within the guidelines of each of these stakeholders to ensure the priorities of each were addressed at every phase of the project. Financial contributors to this project include the Virginia Department of Transportation, US Economic Development Authority, Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission and the Halifax IDA.

Timmons Group worked with the IDA to prepare applications, make presentations and secure approximately $4 million of investment for Halifax County from these agencies.

The traditional engineering to move this project to construction represented the core services of the Timmons Group team. These services included roadway design, stormwater management design services, utility alternatives and design as well as landscape consulting. The infrastructure represented by these designs totaled over $6 million of construction. The Timmons Group team also provided additional services to enhance the Riverstone project and maintain the project’s original schedule. These services, along with the core services outlined above, were delivered through a single Project Manager supported by a comprehensive economic development team.
