Overview

Timmons Group is currently working with the City of Raleigh to complete construction drawings and permitting for several pedestrian improvement projects. The Neighborhood & Community Connections program focuses on providing pedestrian improvements that connect neighborhoods to City parks. Some projects are as simple as providing a sidewalk from the adjacent right of way to an existing sidewalk network within the park. Other projects are more complicated and require greenway trails to make the connections. Often times, the connections make use of informal paths or sewer maintenance easements.

In the first phase of the project, Timmons completed construction drawings for five individual park and greenway sites. Based on the permitting requirements and budget constraints, four projects were selected to move forward to construction. Two projects were completed in the fall of 2020 and the other two were completed in the spring of 2021. Timmons provided construction administration services on each of them. We are currently in the design phase of two additional trail connections, which are anticipated to be constructed in the spring of 2022.
