Residents in Richmond’s Forest Hill neighborhood are concerned about a dangerous roadway in the area. They say Bliley Road has very little space to walk on and flooding is also a constant worry.

Forty-four local firms landed on Inc. Magazine’s annual Inc. 5000 rankings, which were released this week and are based on revenue growth over the last three calendar years. That’s up from 41 local companies on last year’s list.

As a major mixed-use development gets rolling nearby, the longtime home of a Richmond lumber company along Hermitage Road is being floated for a $53 million project that could provide a new home for a local construction firm.

The five rehabs underway are the 64-unit Fulton Apartments at 1221 Denny St., the 52-unit Randolph Apartments at 300 S. Randolph St., the 40-unit Afton Avenue Apartments at 2201 Afton Ave., the 30-unit Stovall Place at 100 W. 24th St., and the 18-unit Bainbridge Apartments at 28th, Moody and Bainbridge streets.

The floodgate, located near VFW Road beneath I-95 in West Lumberton, just north of Exit 17, originally was to be built east of the interstate. But because of considerations regarding the widening and elevating of I-95 at that location the decision was made to move the floodgate to the western side of the highway.

WVS Cos. and Fountainhead Real Estate Development have filed plans for two new buildings at 1300 E. Byrd St. to cap off the nearly decade-long redevelopment of the old Reynolds North complex along downtown’s canal front.

Crescent Communities will develop a life sciences project called The Yield in Holly Springs. The Charlotte-based developer expects to break ground on the first phase this fall, with the first building’s delivery expected in the summer of 2022.
