Overview

Timmons Group provided Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) services for the University of South Carolina Lancaster’s Crawford Rose Garden Restoration project. While a previous survey had been completed, additional information on subsurface utilities was needed to support informed design decisions on future construction plans in a timely manner.

A SUE/GPR crew from Timmons Group mobilized quickly to perform a SUE investigation in accordance with the ASCE 38-22 Standard Guideline for Investigating and Documenting Existing Utilities, so that the additional information found can be incorporated into the construction bidding process. The team utilized electromagnetic locating equipment and multichannel GPR to identify and document existing underground infrastructure across the project site.

Utility investigations in active higher education campus environments require safety and security to be paramount. This involves careful coordination, a thorough understanding of existing conditions through prior due diligence, and mindfulness of the surrounding environment. Timmons Group brings experience working with colleges and universities across the region, providing reliable data and responsive service to support successful project outcomes.
