Overview

Timmons Group and Virginia State University (VSU) staff identified a need for restoration of approximately 2,000 lf of urban degraded stream along the VSU campus. The existing channel meanders through the college campus and is located between several adjacent buildings. The banks have severely eroded causing a hazard to the existing utilities, buildings and campus residents.
This project is currently under design and will included the preparation of complete design plans and specifications for the restoration of approximately 2,000 linear feet of stream channel.

Currently 50% level design plans have been submitted to the University. Initial removal rate calculations have estimated that total nitrogen would be reduced by 774 pounds per year, total phosphorus would be reduced by 195 pounds per year, and that the total amount of sediment would be reduced by 67,329 pounds per year.
