The Timmons Group Virginia Beach volleyball team, dubbed the Spot Shots, recently won the V-Thing Bronze League Championship. It was our first year participating in this league, and after regular season growing pains, the team gelled at exactly the right time.
We entered the double elimination tournament as the #7 seed and went 4-0 in the first week’s playoff round, knocking off the #2 and #3 seeds. The Championship was held the following week at Tidewater Volleyball Association’s indoor court due to inclement weather.
Things looked bleak for Spot Shots after losing their first set in a best-of-three match against a fully rostered Volley LOLs squad, but the team dug deep, winning the second set to force a winner-take-all finale. The final set was highly contested early on, but the Spot Shots went on a run midway through to pull out the victory.
