Timmons Group Welcomes Tom Cannarella, PE, to Columbia Office to Support Growing Land Development Practice

Columbia, SC — December 15, 2025 — Timmons Group is pleased to welcome R. Thomas “Tom” Cannarella, PE, LEED AP, as a Senior Project Manager in the firm’s Commercial Land Development practice. Based in Columbia, Cannarella brings more than 25 years of experience in civil engineering, land development, and site design, with much of his work concentrated throughout South Carolina and North Carolina, including more than 13 years delivering projects across the Midlands and Upstate SC.

Cannarella is a licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, with a career that spans the full land development lifecycle. He began his work in the industry as a construction field engineer, advanced into civil design, later became the owner of a land development company for 8 years, and has since established himself as a professional land planner, civil engineer, and trusted partner to private and public development clients. His experience includes concept planning, due diligence, permitting, engineering design, and construction support, making him uniquely equipped to guide projects from vision through build-out.

Over the course of his career, Cannarella has supported projects for a diverse range of clients, including SCDOT, University of South Carolina, SC State Museum, City of Columbia, Richland County, Lexington County, Columbia Metropolitan Airport, Greenville Airport, Aiken County, Santee Cooper, Fort Jackson, Duke Energy, as well as numerous commercial and residential developers, architects, and private owners. His work portfolio includes mixed-use commercial developments, large retail sites, residential communities, industrial facilities, and public infrastructure improvements across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Timmons Group’s Columbia office has continued to expand since its establishment, now supporting a growing team and client base across the Midlands, Upstate, and surrounding regions. The firm recently announced new survey professionals joining its Charleston office, further strengthening our capabilities to provide land surveying and development work across the state. South Carolina customers are now supported by a full network of civil engineering, land development, surveying, environmental, geospatial, transportation, and traffic & signal design professionals who collaborate across offices to deliver comprehensive project solutions.
