Stinson Drive, located on NC State University’s Campus, recently underwent several upgrades to improve drainage and alleviate flooding in the area.

Timmons Group provided landscape architecture and engineering services for the Stinson Drive Improvement project. Timmons Group implemented a bio-retention cell along Stinson Drive which helped alleviate flooding that continued to occur at Dabney Hall.

The design team had to strategize how to connect this stormwater system to the overall campus stormwater master plan while also considering pedestrian connectivity through and around this space.

Additional design considerations included choosing plant species for the bio-retention that were both functional and would thrive in both wet and dry environments.

Services provided for this project included the preparation of full construction documents, stormwater calculations, and construction administration.
