Overview

The Virginia Commonwealth University Laurel Street Parking Deck is a Design/Build effort on an urban infill lot in the heart of the VCU Campus near downtown Richmond, Virginia. Timmons Group provided civil engineering, construction administration and survey construction staking for the mixed-use building which features 209 parking spaces and first floor commercial space. Site elements for the LEED Certified project include new brick sidewalks, street trees, decorative streetlights, handicap access and vehicular access points. In addition, the project required utility connections for sanitary and storm drainage and domestic and fire water connections. Timmons Group worked closely with the design team, general contractor, University and the City of Richmond to design and implement the project. The new building transforms an asphalt surface parking lot to an efficient building that will provide needed parking for the University and an attractive component to the Richmond pallet. The project was completed in 2010.
