Overview

Timmons Group provided engineering and environmental services to perform a phased design approach for stormwater management improvements at the West End Depot. In addition to Henrico County’s Fire Training Facility and Animal Shelter, the West End Depot also houses many of the County Agencies’ maintenance and storage yards, including Public Utilities, Public Works, Recreation & Parks, and General Services, among other uses. Phase I included a watershed analysis of existing land use/land characteristics, maintenance operations, site hydrology, pollutant loading, water quality treatment, and hydraulic function of the existing storm sewer collections system. Phase I culminated with strategic recommendations to improve water quality treatment on-site required for the County’s MS4 permit compliance, including structural and non-structural BMP measures.

Phase 1 Services:

  • Compile GIS information
  • Field inspections
  • Preliminary hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
  • Development of site-specific stormwater management improvement alternatives and strategies for MS4 Phase I permit compliance
  • Size and location alternatives for a vehicle wash facility
  • Final Report and recommendations for Phase 2
