Timmons Group developed the erosion control plan for the 80-megawatt Conetoe II solar project in eastern North Carolina, working closely with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and providing details and calculations as required. This project is the largest solar plant east of the Mississippi River, the vast 800-acre solar farm features 375,000 solar panels and cost over $200 million to develop. Built in just 10 months, the project is located in Edgecombe County and is projected to produce more than 191 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. The power produced from the farm is being sold to Corning, Inc. and Lockheed Martin Corp.
