Overview

Carytown Place is an award winning commercial redevelopment of a telecommunications operations center located in the Museum District-Carytown area of Richmond. The site houses moderate sized commercial businesses that blend within the area’s residential and small business character.

The design was achieved through an initial SUP process and later construction documents that addressed City standards for parking and pedestrian circulation areas while featuring an array of residential type plantings that integrates with the Museum District neighborhood. Raised planters alongside the outdoor café showcase brightly colored bulbs and sweet smelling herbs that draw attention to the store fronts and gathering spaces for visitors.

Carytown Place transforms a once vacant building into a valuable community asset with a timely charm that melds the commercial use to the adjacent residential properties while promoting walkability, jobs, and commerce.
