Q&A

Where did you grow up? I’ve lived in Richmond, Virginia my entire life. I grew up in the West End of Richmond (Short Pump area) and attended Godwin High School.

What is a favorite Timmons Group project you have worked on? My favorite project to work on was the Atlee Road Extended project, which was my 1st project designed for Hanover County after being awarded an on-call contract with them in 2011. This project had it all. It had an overpass railroad bridge, and underpass vehicular tunnel, MSE retaining walls, 5 property owner relocations, traffic signals, expansive public and private utility relocations, and all of the requirements resulting from the use of federal funds to bring it all together. After the project was finished in 2018, it was selected as the winner of the 2019 VTCA Engineering Award for projects over $10M (locality projects).

What’s your favorite restaurant? Those that know me know I love to eat, especially buffalo wings. One of my favorite casual restaurants is Sports Page Bar & Grill for their wings and array of wing sauces (and sports).

What’s something about you many people don’t know? Most people that know me know that I played baseball at Virginia Tech. But what they probably don’t know is that I wasn’t recruited to play there. I decided to go to VT because I knew I wanted to be an engineer and that was “obviously” the best place to accomplish that goal. I made the baseball team as a walk-on my freshman year, redshirted that year, earned a scholarship as a sophomore, and was selected as team captain by my senior year, which is one of the leadership-related accomplishments I’m most proud of.

What’s your dream vacation destination? I’ve been fortunate to have taken many vacations to some exciting locations over the years, but my favorite vacation, and one I would consider my dream vacation, was a trip to Lucerne, Switzerland with no plans other than how to get there. Just wake up, grab a breakfast and a map, hop on the train, and travel through this beautiful country.
