Overview

This new dormitory building at the Virginia Commonwealth University campus is dubbed the West Grace Housing project and is located on in Richmond’s urban core. This Design/Build LEED Certified Project features 459 beds in 122 dwelling units, as well as first floor office and commercial use. Timmons Group worked closely with the design team, owner, general contractor and the City of Richmond to provide civil and surveying services to support the design and construction of the project. The project was designed and built in conjunction with a new City of Richmond Green Alley to the south and the VCU Laurel Street Parking Deck just to east. Key site components included a landscaped courtyard, stormwater management, rainwater harvesting, streetscape improvements and new drainage, sanitary and water utility connections. This project provides not only an attractive feature on this City block, but also much needed student housing and office space. The project was completed in 2010.
