Overview

Design of the $200 million NASCAR Racing Complex located in Henrico County, Virginia. Services provided include long-range master planning of vehicular and pedestrian circulation plans, complete major utility, transportation and land development infrastructure planning and design of horizontal and vertical parameters for a 0.75 mile world class quality race track, commonly known as Richmond International Raceway.

Design also included computer simulation for $5 million curvilinear vehicle and pedestrian tunnels under the raceway. Additional services provided include designs for 500 acres of parking, multi-task track subsurface drainage designs and major grandstand and care center additions.

Timmons Group recently completed services for a $5 million facility expansion that encompasses an overhaul of a major portion of the Richmond Raceway Complex. Key design elements included new handicap parking lots, re-surfacing the entire vendor/display area, a new perimeter fencing system, new keynote entrance plazas, utility services in the vendor area, a Driver/Owner RV complex, satellite parking facilities, a VIP helicopter terminal, a fan and tram circulation plan and construction of a pre-cast tunnel structure under a state road.
