Overview

GIS Planning and Development

The City of Fayetteville (City) was looking to upgrade its existing GIS system to an Enterprise GIS to support future and current needs. The City contracted with Timmons Group to perform a formal review and analysis of existing spatial datasets held by the GIS / IT supporting the City, perform a needs assessment for GIS in support of the pending Asset Management and permitting and Inspection projects, and perform data conversion and cleanup for existing datasets into the new system.

Timmons Group also provided recommendations and procedures for collection of additional features identified in the needs assessment (data gaps), developed specific data models, tools, and maintenance strategies to support the development of the EGIS using Esri’s Data Model templates and Local Government Data Model options for identified layers needed to support City-maintained GIS data related to General GIS, Asset Management, Permitting and Inspection tasks.

Timmons Group also provided recommendations for workflows to improve and maintain needed GIS feature classes and infrastructure elements and provided QA/QC guidance and procedures for use during data conversion and ongoing maintenance.

Cityworks EAMS and PLL Implementation

Timmons Group implemented an Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) and Permitting solution. Through extensive evaluation the City chose Azteca Cityworks Server AMS (Asset Management System) and Azteca’s Cityworks Server PLL (Permits, Licensing, and Land) as their asset management and permitting platforms.

Timmons Group implemented Cityworks Server PLL for the City’s Permitting, Building Inspections, and Code Enforcement divisions. This implementation allowed the City to streamline the application and review process by enabling each division to share and access pertinent information through a single portal based on a cohesive workflow.
