Overview

Timmons Group completed a nutrient management plan for the 192 acres of campus which took into account the university’s current and future development phases including athletic fields, campus turf grounds, and ornamental landscaping. VSU is located on the banks of the Appomattox River and provides a unique opportunity to effectively manage nutrients on a large, urbanized landscape immediately adjacent to critical Chesapeake Bay watershed resources. Onsite soil sampling and evaluations supported the development of a plan providing a recipe and schedule for grounds fertilization and nutrient applications. Through proactive collaboration with the facility’s grounds management personnel, the development of an effective and practical plan was achieved.
