Overview

The new Transylvania County Public Safety building provides space for the county’s police, detention, and emergency functions. The facility also houses a 120-bed jail, Sheriff’s offices, E-911 dispatch, and an Emergency Operations Center. Timmons Group was responsible for civil engineering and survey services for this 63,000 square foot building.

The facility was designed and constructed according to the guidelines set forth in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Green Building Rating System version 2.2. The facility attained LEED Silver certification in August of 2010, making it the first Public Safety Center to earn certification in North Carolina.
