Overview

Timmons Group provided landscape architecture and engineering services for the Stinson Drive Improvement project on the NC State University Campus. Stinson Drive had parallel parking but the design team took full advantage of this area for a stormwater feature. Timmons Group implemented a bio-retention cell along Stinson Drive which helped alleviate some of the flooding that continued to occur at Dabney Hall. The team had to strategize how to connect this stormwater system to the overall campus stormwater master plan and think about pedestrian connectivity through and around this space. The team made sure that this bio-retention would work not only for a stormwater device but included plant species that would survive drought and wet environments. The services provided included the preparation of full construction documents, stormwater calculations, and construction administration for the improvements along Stinson Drive.
