Overview

The Workforce Development and Technology Training Center is a 39,000 square foot facility that is the first phase of the new Germanna Community College Culpeper Campus of the Germanna Community College. Timmons Group worked with Moseley Architects to develop the master plan for the new campus and performed the civil engineering and landscape design for this first phase building. State funding issues delayed the start of the project until the spring of 2004. Just prior to advertisement, a grant was received from the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to re-design of the grading, drainage, and wat the site plan utilizing Low Impact Development (LID) techniques. Timmons Group accepted the challenge of re-design of the grading, drainage, and water quality on a tight schedule and produced an LID modified plan prior to advertisement. Our team shared before and after LID construction cost information with DCR for their use in establishing sustainable site design recommendations for other state projects. The essential concept of the original plan was maintained in the re-design of the original desired intent for optimum vehicular and pedestrian circulation.
