Timmons Group provided a variety of services to Dominion Energy’s new 20-story office tower in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The tower offers views of the City skyline and the James River and includes ground floor retail and offices for over 1,000 Dominion employees.
Timmons Group collected soil and groundwater samples to assess subsurface environmental conditions as a compliment geotechnical drilling operations in support of the construction of Dominion Energy’s twin high-rise office buildings in downtown Richmond. Soil and groundwater sampling was executed in accordance with ASTM International Standard E1903-11 and sampling was completed using hollow-stem augers which included the installation of temporary groundwater monitoring wells to facilitate sample collection. Based on building design and as dictated by subsurface conditions, samples were often collected from depths in excess of 70 feet below surface grade. As required by the City of Richmond, drilling operations had to be completed between 8 P.M. and 8 A.M. which heightened personnel safety considerations.
