Overview

The Skagit County PUD (PUD) contracted with Timmons Group (as a sub-contractor to local engineering firm GeoEngineers) for implementation of an Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) for their water distribution and plant division. Through extensive evaluation the PUD chose Azteca Cityworks as their asset management platform.

Timmons Group and PUD staff took part in a business process analysis and business improvements phase of the project that resulted in a clearly defined Cityworks configuration and a formal set of standard operating procedures. As part of this implementation Timmons Group is integrating Cityworks with PUD’s Financial Management System (Cayenta) as well as the PUD’s Customer Information System (NorthStar). By integrating Cityworks with these enterprise applications PUD will be able to leverage all of the functionality of Cityworks while maintaining their current financial business process.

Project Tasks

Installation and Configuration – This custom configuration was developed by gathering and analyzing the PUD’s current workflows, service requests, GIS data sets, employee structure, materials and equipment. Once the configuration design was developed Timmons Group installed and configured Cityworks Server in the PUD’s environment.

Integration – Timmons Group worked closely with the PUD and Harris to design and model six crucial interfaces between the Cayenta, Northstar, and Azteca’s Cityworks systems. This effort included detailed requirements gathering, mapping of mission critical information between systems, and custom software development utilizing each systems API.

Training – From kickoff through support Timmons Group held a series of instructional classes on Cityworks AMS and the PUD’s configuration. PUD end users were provided with a comprehensive week long on-site training session. Users were instructed on how to navigate through Cityworks server using the PUD’s data and configuration. Timmons Group also provided Cityworks Server Administration and ad-hoc/Crystal report training to the PUD’s database administrators and report writers.
