Working for the City of Richmond, Timmons Group’s Structural Group inspected the bridge carrying Water Street over Gillies Creek near Rocketts Landing. This reinforced concrete bridge was constructed in 1938. Our structural engineers performed a detailed visual inspection of every aspect of the bridge, from the top of deck to the base of the substructure, taking notes and photographs to fully document the current condition.
Once back in the office, the team developed a comprehensive report documenting their findings. The report followed typical VDOT bridge inspection guidelines and included written descriptions of the bridge’s current condition and deficiencies, photos documenting noted defects, and maintenance recommendations. Element level quantifying of condition states of each component was also included, following National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) guidelines.
