Project Summary
On January 26, 2005, pursuant to the requirements of Virginia’s Public Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002, James City County solicited proposals for a public-private partnership for the design, permitting and construction of site improvements and off-site infrastructure at the Warhill Tract. This 588-acre site, located south of US Route 60 on Centerville Road, includes the new 1,450-student Warhill High School for Williamsburg-James-City County Schools, the new 350,000 square foot campus for Thomas Nelson Community College and shared access for the new 3,000-seat stadium adjacent to the Warhill Sports Complex. Timmons Group provided site, transportation, stormwater and utility improvements and environmental permitting and compliance service. Transportation Improvements Included:
- a new four-lane divided site access road;
- a new two-lane access road to stadium site;
- widening of existing Centerville Road from a two-lane undivided to a four-lane divided corridor;
- access improvements for Williamsburg Outlet Mall;
- turning lane improvements in US Route 60;
- two new traffic signals and corridor timing adjustments.
