Timmons Group’s portfolio features many civil engineering designs related to environmental engineering and stormwater management, including dam design, inspection and rehabilitation, stream restoration, and designs to mitigate safety issues and the control of wildlife and invasive vegetation near BMPs. We work with public and private clients to develop stormwater management programs and evaluate stormwater best management practice (BMP) options. Our civil engineers have experience implementing Low Impact Development (LID) measures for public facilities, as well as comprehensive watershed management studies incorporating the most progressive BMP technologies and LID practices available.

Handy Lane Drainage Improvements
Location: City of Richmond, Virginia Investigated two alternatives, one traditional and one low impact development technique, to remediate a drainage issue.
Paxton Road Drainage Improvements
Location: City of Richmond, Virginia This project consisted of the design for enclosing a wide and deep open-channel watercourse that passes through the front yard of 214 Paxton Road in the City of Richmond.
Tuckahoe Park Drainage Improvements
Location: Henrico County, Virginia Designed to provide drainage relief for the neighborhood surrounding Mayland Drive in western Henrico County.
Norfolk Highlands Area Drainage Study
Location: City of Chesapeake, VA
Laurel Road Drainage Improvements
Location: Chesterfield County, Virginia Provided drainage relief for residents along Laurel Road in the Ettrick area Chesterfield County through construction of a storm sewer system and channel improvements.
Sedgefield Elementary School Urban Bioretention
Location: Newport News, VA
Golden Road Drainage Improvements
Location: Henrico County, Virginia Provide drainage relief for residents along Golden Road, Lenora Lane, and Leah Road through construction of a storm sewer system running perpendicular to the roads and outfalling to Horsepen Branch.
The Arboretum Office Park Pond Management
Location: Richmond, Virginia Annual pond management contract with The Arboretum office park which has four actively managed ponds that Timmons Group maintains on a monthly basis.
Young’s Pond Improvements
Location: Richmond, Virginia Improvements in the stability and aesthetics of the existing wall at Young’s Pond included complete removal and replacement of the wall for approximately 750 feet.
Azalea Pond Renovations
Location: Richmond, Virginia Renovation of the existing azalea pond in Joseph Bryan Park in the City of Richmond by means of dredging the pond and repairing the existing fountain feature.
Lake Henning Sediment Forebay Design
Location: Henrico County, Virginia Design of a sediment forebay upstream of the existing lake to allow more efficient and economic sediment removal.
