Overview

Birchett Estates – Reach 1 is a 2,132 LF urban stream restoration project that lies along the back property lines within a development. The stream channel was severely incised and had exposed several stormwater and sanitary lines along the stream corridor. Additionally, significant land loss was occurring along homeowners properties and affecting their lot values. Given the length, the stream restoration was completed in two different phases to breakdown the upfront costs for the county. Restoration included the creation of a new floodplain, utility repairs, culvert upgrades and bank stabilization. The project was awarded grant assistance through SLAF funding for $650k. Timmons Group assisted the County in obtaining new utility easements along the stream corridor as well.
