Project Summary
The Philip Morris, USA Headquarters opened in 1958 as one of Richmond’s premier corporate buildings (Reynolds Metal Headquarters). Timmons Group designed a new entry off Broad Street to accommodate increasing traffic. Our design team sited a new parking lot outside the historic perimeter and screened it from all major view sheds. A new walkabout gives employees at he headquarters the opportunity to walk the entire site safely.
Our landscape team’s passion for historic landscapes was a perfect fit to transition site and landscaping. In researching original documents, many of the original plant materials had died or were in decline. Respectful of the historic significance, the landscape designers developed a landscape plan that utilized the original plant materials as specified by the Charles Gillette plan. In this plan, missing plantings were reestablished in original locations to foster a continued evolving landscape.
