Timmons Group’s Young-Laine Courts Building Project Receives LEED Silver Certification
Richmond, Va. – January 23, 2012 – Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in civil engineering and professional consulting services, announced today that the firm’s Young-Laine Courts Building project in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, has received LEED® Silver Certification.
“Achieving LEED Silver on the Young-Laine Courts Building is a testament to the fact that environmental stewardship and fiscal responsibility are goals that can be mutually achieved through modern building practices,” said Bruce McCloy PE, LEED AP, Principal of Timmons Group’s Government practice. “Constructing the site and facility in a sustainable and environmentally-sensitive manner is fast becoming the accepted practice for municipal architecture which is consistent with the values of Isle of Wight County. Timmons Group provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, survey, a traffic impact analysis and LEED document preparation services for the Young-Laine Courts Building, a 46,347 square feet facility constructed on county-owned land just north of the existing county complex on U.S. Route 258. The property is the former county fairgrounds. The building houses three courtrooms —county’s circuit, general district, and juvenile and domestic relations courts — the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, clerk offices, and a records room, which is named after Randall Booth.
