Richmond, VA – July 18, 2017 – Timmons Group, a civil engineering and technology firm with 12 offices across the Southeast and over 500 employees nationwide, is proud to recognize their marketing department’s achievement of winning a national award through the Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). The marketing team entered their campaign titled, “I Love my Engineer,” into the Marketing Communication Awards (MCA) competition, which recognizes outstanding work being done annually by professional services marketers in the design and building industry.
The “I Love my Engineer” campaign was launched on Valentine’s Day and included a billboard, direct mail and advertising focused on developing new relationships with architects within the region. The centerpiece for the campaign was a 36-foot wide digital billboard along I-85 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This central piece was reinforced by a region wide brand image and awareness campaign that leveraged direct mail, advertising and direct contact with architects. The concept was to motivate architects to work with an engineer they loved by grabbing their attention with the bold statement, ‘I Love my Engineer.’
“When our marketing team needed to make a big impact in North Carolina, we knew we had to do something that most firms in the industry have never done before,” said Tim Klabunde, Director of Marketing for Timmons Group. “The billboard, direct mail, and advertising efforts reinforced our brand image and put us in front of potential clients that we may not have had a chance to work with otherwise. This award reinforces the success of our outside of the box thinking, and is just one of the many ways our team of marketers is changing this industry for the better on a daily basis.”
With the campaign running for five months, Timmons Group built name recognition, established positive brand value, developed new relationships, and increased revenues on projects working for architects. They measured their results through open rates, direct client feedback, social media mentions, new client relationships and revenue increases by evaluating total new clients, new relationships, responses from existing clients, budget analysis, and revenue increases.
Winners of the MCA awards were honored at a gala during the Annual SMPS Build Business Conference on July 13th in Indianapolis. SMPS is the only organization that focuses on marketing and business development in the A/E/C industry, representing over 6,000 members and 3,500 firms.
