One of the latest additions to the historic Union Hill neighborhood of Richmond is The Goodwyn at Union Hill affordable housing apartment community.

Named in honor of Hilton W. and Hallie J. Goodwyn, the 6-building development features 52 affordable housing units. This Better Housing Coalition (BHC) project is located on Venable Street and includes a historic former community center that was once known as “The House of Happiness.” After sitting vacant for over 20 years, the building has transformed into a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes.

The community features several amenities including porches, off-street parking, a large community space, and convenient access to public transportation.

Timmons Group provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, geotechnical, and construction materials testing (CMT) services for the project. Walter Parks Architects served as the architect.
