The Chapel Hill High School project site encompasses approximately 111.9 acres and is comprised of an educational campus including classrooms, office facilities, indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, and associated parking for students, staff, and buses.

The design of the new school addresses stormwater issues with previous pavement in the parking lots, rain gardens, a cistern, and a meandering stream in a central courtyard. In addition, the courtyard provides learning, performance, and gathering areas with a greenhouse, outdoor amphitheater, and multiple seating areas for outdoor dining.

The Timmons Group team redesigned the tennis courts to provide updated lighting and new surfacing. In addition to civil design, Timmons Group provided topographic survey, SUE designation, roadway design, traffic management plans, traffic analysis, and 404/401 environmental permitting for the school.

Timmons Group provided roadway engineering design for access to the new school that included design and permitting for a turn lane and a second driveway for student drop off, added from the rear of the campus off Seawell School Road. An extended greenway and additional sidewalk were incorporated into the design to improve access to the site for students and pedestrians.
