Richmond, VA –Timmons Group (http://www.timmons.com) provided around-the-clock support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN http://www.vgin.virginia.gov/) in response to Hurricane Isabel. Virginia and North Carolina suffered severe damage as a result of high winds ranging from 74 to 107 mph. Timmons Group worked with FEMA and VGIN for approximately 2 weeks to provide 24/7 on-demand mapping support. Products included maps for affected localities detailing infrastructure resources (schools, landfills, roads, etc.) and high resolution imagery (VBMP). Emergency management personnel used these maps to determine appropriate shelters, debris removal sites, and travel routes.
