Timmons Group Awarded Design-Build Contract for Federal Correctional Institution in Hazelton, West Virginia

Richmond, VA – October 28, 2009 –Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in civil engineering and professional consulting services, announced today that the firm was recently awarded a contract, as part of the Hensel Phelps Construction Company (Hensel Phelps) team, to design and build a new medium security Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Hazelton, Preston County, West Virginia.

As a subconsultant to Alpha Associates, Inc. (Alpha), Timmons Group will be responsible for preliminary and final site civil engineering design; environmental permitting and design and construction administration activities for the new Federal Bureau of Prisons facility. Current plans are for the facility to be designed with a gross building area of approximately 54,255 square meters and be designed to house and support approximately 1,152 inmates. Construction completion is planned for 2012. The total magnitude of the project is greater than $150 million.
