Richmond, VA – October 26, 2006 - Timmons Group, a leading civil engineering firm headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is pleased to announce that Ginasiyo “Ignatius” Mutoti, Ph.D., P.E., has been chosen to serve as the Virginia Society of Professional Engineers’ (VSPE) representative to the Virginia Waterworks Advisory Committee, a division of the Virginia Department of Health. A Process Engineer with TimmonsGroup’s Infrastructure sector, Dr. Mutoti has over more than ten years of experience in water/wastewater, regulatory issues, design and operations of water supply andwastewater conveyance, treatment, disposal and reuse systems.
During his three-year term in the position, Dr. Mutoti will be helping to formulate recommendations to Dr. Robert B. Stroube, the commissioner regarding waterworks and water supply policies, procedures and programs of the division. “In addition,” said Mutoti, “I will be looking out for professional engineers in Virginia on issues that may affect them in their daily professional practice and will be reporting back to the VSPE Board and Virginia Professional Engineers as necessary via periodic reports, presentations and articles.”
Dr. Mutoti’s brings diverse local and international academic and professional backgrounds, starting in his native Zimbabwe, where he received Bachelors degrees in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology from the University of Zimbabwe before heading on to Australia to pursue his Master’s in Environmental Engineering. Prior to joining Timmons Group, received his Ph.D., from the University of Central Florida where he was a member of a research team that conducted a $3 million AWWARF distribution System study, in which he developed the Iron Flux Model for distribution red water predictions and control
In addition to terms in both the public utility, consulting and as a university lecturer, Mutoti has authored, co-authored numerous journal papers and presented at water/wastewater-related seminars and conferences.
