Timmons Group’s Sam Saunders a Graduate of Leadership Charlottesville Class of 2009

Richmond, VA – June 12, 2009 – Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in multi-discipline civil engineering consulting services, is pleased to announce that Sam Saunders is a graduate of the Leadership Charlottesville Class of 2009.

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce graduated its Leadership Charlottesville Class of 2009 on Wednesday, May 27th. The ceremonies were held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Charlottesville. The United Way - Thomas Jefferson Area is the Chamber's lead underwriting partner for Leadership Charlottesville.

The Chamber established Leadership Charlottesville in 1982 as a Chamber economic development initiative to serve member enterprises to help build a reservoir of informed, engaged dedicated civic leaders. Since then, Leadership Charlottesville has become a signature Chamber program graduating approximately 700 citizens.

After the graduation ceremony, this year's graduating class of Leadership Charlottesville was recognized at the 2009 Chamber Spring Luncheon - underwritten by BB&T and Ntelos. More than 400 business and community leaders attended the Chamber Luncheon, which also featured a keynote address by Governor Timothy Kaine. The Chamber Luncheon also featured the presentation of the 2009 Chamber Small Businesspersons of the Year Award to the Loose Family of Tuel Jewelers and recognition of recipients of the Charlottesville Community Scholarships; the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council Tech Scholarship Award; and the Charlottesville Albemarle Technology Education Center Entrepreneur Scholarship Recipient.

Saunders is Principal of Timmons Group’s Charlottesville office and has more than 30 years of experience in a broad range of civil engineering design projects, including the design and management of healthcare, urban, commercial, industrial and office site plans, utilities, subdivision, road, earthen dam and stormwater management projects.

A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a BS in Civil Engineering and the University of Virginia with a ME in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Saunders has been with Timmons Group for over fifteen years. He is also a licensed PE in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Saunders is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society for Healthcare Engineering and is a LEED® Accredited Professional.
