photoRichmond, VA –Timmons Group is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the 2005 Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Award (ASLA) for Communication as well as the 2005 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Muse Award for Creativity in Business for the creation of an outdoor classroom booklet entitled, “Stormwater Story, What Happens When It Rains?”.

The ASLA Merit Award for Communication recognizes achievements in communicating landscape architecture works, techniques, technologies, history or theory and their lesson value to the intended audience. ASLA noted that Timmons Group’s booklet was superior in the areas of (1), message presentation; (2), innovation in approach and delivery; and (3), value to its intended audience.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Muse Award for Creativity in Business recognizes creative visionaries who thrive to achieve inventive and imaginative business practices and bring them to life. When presenting Timmons Group with the Muse Award, judges articulated that they were extremely impressed with Timmons Group for reinventing their traditional corporate image.

Stormwater Story was born out of a desire at Timmons Group to design school sites that incorporate environmental education and outdoor classrooms into the design of the sites themselves. Timmons Group is an engineering design leader for school facility site development. The educational booklet intends to engage students with their surrounding environment and to educate them about natural resources just outside the classroom doors. It also serves as a tool for public officials, highlighting the value of outdoor classrooms for future school development.

For their skill and teamwork that made this award-winning booklet possible, Timmons Group applauds employees Erica Gatti, ASLA, (illustrator, researcher, editor); Tory Walton (layout and design); Stephen Hostetler, PE (editor and contributor); and Lu Gay Lanier, LA, FASLA (editor, contributor).
