April 10, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fluvanna and Louisa Counties Receive Recommendations for James River Waterline Project Richmond, VA – April 10, 2008 –The Fluvanna County and Louisa County Boards of Supervisors today announce that the Boards will receive public presentations from Timmons Group on their recommendations for the James River Water Project to serve the Zions Crossroads area. On Wednesday, April 2nd at 2 PM, the Fluvanna Board received the presentation during its regularly scheduled meeting. On Monday, Aril 7th at 6 PM, the Louisa Board received the same presentation during its regularly scheduled meeting. The James River Water Project is the result of a Memorandum of Agreement and Understanding (MOU) struck by the two counties in March 2003. The MOU followed the work of the Joint Water Supply Work Group that was put together by the two Boards in 2002. It was agreed that the system would include “water intake on the James River, a water treatment plant, and piping to deliver the water to the Fork Union Sanitary District, Zion Crossroads and the Fluvanna Correctional Facility.” Timmons Group was hired to evaluate the most feasible and cost effective way to provide water from the James River to supply the Zion Crossroads area while minimizing up-front capital costs of the infrastructure and respecting the current and proposed Comprehensive Plan in Fluvanna County. The presentations will provide an overview of the project, recommendations for the routes of the raw and finished waterlines, location of the treatment plant and an ownership and management structure as well as a project cost overview. Public Information Meetings are also planned in April. Two meetings are scheduled in Fluvanna County:
