Dr. Trani toured the Timmons Group corporate headquarters located in the Boulders Office Park in Chesterfield County before addressing the new associates in a monthly meeting that is part of the Timmons Group Associates Program. Dr. Trani shared his vision for the University as well as many recent VCU success stories, including the Ram’s recent victories in the CAA and NCAA Men’s Basketball tournaments. Dr. Trani reminded the group of the important role that Universities play in the revitalization, development and sustained growth of communities. His presentation shared local, state, national and international successes of VCU and other leading Universities in the areas of technology, life sciences and engineering. Dr. Trani’s visit was part of the inaugural Timmons Group Associates Program, a program developed for the firm’s recently-appointed stockholders. Timmons Group’s Associates have been selected for their demonstrated leadership in managing teams, clients and projects within one service sector of the firm. The Associates Program has been designed to broaden the perspective of these professionals to create corporate citizens with a more thorough understanding of all Timmons Group businesses. The inaugural class will be tasked with completing a 12 month program. As part of the program, Associates are required to visit all Timmons Group offices, review the budget and business plans for each group within the firm and complete two projects during the course of their Associate year. Each of the Associates also meets weekly with an assigned mentor, share reading assignments and attend classes as part of a curriculum that has included many Richmond leaders as guest speakers. In addition to Dr. Trani’s presentation on leadership, the program has also featured presentations such as “Innovation,” with Andy Stephanovich from PLAY and “Timmons Group in the Community,” with Cheryl Combs and Charlie Agee from Philip Morris.
