Timmons Group Selected to Develop VDOT OneMap Application

Richmond, VA – May 24, 2006 - Timmons Group is pleased to announce the Company’s Technology Sector has been awarded a contract with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to provide application programming and information technology architecture support for the “OneMap” initiative.

“OneMap offloads the responsibility of complex GIS technology software development and frequent maintenance for VDOT employees while providing a consistent look and feel to mapping functionality in Enterprise Business applications,” said Lowell Ballard, director of advanced technology for Timmons Group.

The goal of OneMap is to develop a simplified design time control for displaying GIS Data across various non-homogenous applications in an enterprise, while maintaining a consistent look and feel for map presentation. OneMap will enable developers to include Enterprise GIS data in a unified map format (e.g. colors, data, and symbology) without requiring advanced GIS development skills. In addition to the design control, OneMap is built upon a discrete web services layer, known as the OneMap Web Services platform. Separating out the web service functionality conforms to basic premises of the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) allowing the developers to utilize modern object oriented and reusability design models.
