Timmons Group Completes Web-enabled Permitting Application for Henrico County, Virginia

Richmond, VA--Timmons Group, a leading provider of geospatial and engineering services, has successfully completed a web-enabled GIS mapping project for Henrico County, Virginia. The site is used internally in the County’s Permit Center on established kiosk stations. County constituents, including the general public, builders and real estate agents are able to use the kiosks to locate maps and print them to established printing stations. The application allows users to locate properties by address, intersection and several other searching mechanisms.

The application produces several standard map output products including zoning, property inspection, topographic and custom. Maps can also be produced in several different formats/layouts. This site replaces a Legacy ArcView 3.2 application helping the County realize cost savings while concurrently gaining functionality.

All site functionality and data control is handled through Timmons Group’s advanced administration portal. This secure portal allows owners and managers of the site to customize almost every aspect of the site including field names, layer names, layer grouping on the user interface and zoom scales. Implementing administration portals with traditional GIS sites reduces the need for add-on consulting services and, ultimately, empowers clients to customize the site to meet their needs.
