February 15, 2006 Timmons Group Leads GIS Community with ArcGIS Server Implementations FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For more information contact: Richmond, VA – February 15, 2006 - Timmons Group, a leading provider of geospatial and engineering services, has been recognized as a GIS consulting leader in ArcGIS Server applications. Rich Leadbeater, ESRI State Government Industry & Government Trade Associations Manager said, “GIS is expanding beyond the traditional GIS community with ESRI’s ArcServer technology. Their work within the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond proves Timmons Group’s unique position as an ESRI partner and key developer with our server technology. Having won every available Business Partner award, Timmons Group continues to prove their value to ESRI and, most importantly, to the customer.” Projects include large-scale implementations for Natural Resources, Forestry, Transportation, Voter Registration and Homeland Security sectors. The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach to these implementations utilizes web services and applications developed using ESRI’s ArcGIS Server©, ArcIMS© and ArcSDE© to meet spatial data management, reporting and analysis needs. As a component to these projects, Timmons Group designed and implemented highly-scalable, high-availability hardware platforms to support all developed applications. Implementations include provisioning of database / ArcSDE Clusters; secure load-balanced web tiers; clustered ArcIMS / ArcGIS Server instances and highly-available storage infrastructures (SAN). All infrastructure configurations provide maximum fail-over support, load balancing and scalability without compromising performance or security. Through the use of SOA methodologies and ArcGIS server, Timmons Group has been able to create reusable web services for the direct creation and manipulation of ArcSDE-based features. Developed applications are integrated with non-spatial business applications through SOA – minimizing integration efforts. “Build once – use many” is a concept Timmons Group staff endorses. Geocoding web services were developed as part of the core implementation. These services were extended to return value-added information from the resultant point. The State Board of Elections in Virginia utilizes this service to inform constituents of their voting precinct, polling location, and House and Senate districts. Geocoding services are also used in the Commonwealth’s homeland security application, providing highly accurate event location.
