Floods cause more damage and economic losses in the United States than any other type of natural disaster and home owners’ insurance does not typically cover flood damage. All areas are at risk for flooding, not just coastal or low lying areas.

Out of date floodplain maps may be costing your citizens increased insurance rates or worse not making them aware they need flood insurance. Timmons Group can asses your floodplain mapping needs to help you protect your citizens.

FEMA does not typically have sufficient time to properly assess a community’s mapping needs. Timmons Group can negotiate with FEMA to ensure your community’s mapping needs are met. Funding for remapping is not provided on a regular cyclical schedule.

FEMA uses a standard formula to determine funding; it may not be enough for your community. Timmons Group can assist with the identification and application of additional funding.

Once mapping is complete it is presented to the public for review. Timmons Group can help facilitate public meetings and provide materials for handout and presentation.
